My Story

My story is as old as time and yes, it is about love. Love of my family, love of the farm, and the rural landscape. I grew up in the rural heartland of Illinois & continue to live on a farm to this day. However, when I turned 60 I realized that my life could be about loving myself, chasing dreams, and not having regrets later in life because I never tried.

I have always been drawn to color, form, and drawing. I remember as a little girl sneaking out of bed with my crayons and trying to draw trees with the hallway light shining down on me. I wanted to make them look like  trees not lollipops on a sticks! I remember becoming frustrated because I wanted to capture the wind blowing through the leaves and truly convey how I felt that day, but my broken, little crayon set wasn't cutting it.

I kept making art to the best of my abilities but then about 20 years ago, I stopped. I was supporting and raising my family, which filled my days with laughter, joy, frustrations, and more. Looking back though, I wouldn't change a thing.

Now, I am an empty nester. Still busy, BUT it's time to spread my wings and try; try to draw again, try out some new mediums, try to challenge myself, to explore my thoughts, to truly capture the world around me, and to be creative. If you would like to come on this journey with me, join my print club and let's walk together into this new phase of life.
